Rivers Casino Philadelphia has confirmed that it will uphold an existing ban on smoking anywhere on the property.
smoking will not be permitted indoors in any locations of the property

The announcement comes as the number of places where gamblers can smoke and play casino games dwindles by the day. This is despite there being no state law that prohibits smoking in gambling facilities.

Rivers is the fifth casino in Pennsylvania that have opted to leave smoking bans that were implemented as a result of Covid-19 restrictions in place indefinitely. Earlier in April, Parx Casino confirmed that it would leave its smoking ban in place permanently although both Parx and Rivers are the only casinos to publicly announce the move.

The latest ban on smoking was first implemented by the City of Philadelphia who enacted a ban alongside a mask mandate in April due to a spike in coronavirus cases. However, this ban was only in place for a short time.

Following the lifting of the city ban, Rivers sent a letter to all employees stating that “smoking will not be permitted indoors in any locations of the property.”

However, the casino has made accommodations for those that smoke and want to take a break from their gaming without losing their seat.
